It was a gift from a friend at the VOS and I thought it would be big, round, orange and frilly.
I brought it home and put it in the cattleya seedling bench. Never looked it up and 9 months later.

I guess its an inside thing but am I only one that wants to know why its on a cook top burner and what the "fire incident" is and why it decreased the bud count????

With a name like Jillian Lee 'Hal' I thought it was a seedling and that it would look like the famous clone Rlc.Jesie Lee 'Hawaii' and you could imagine how shocked I was when it bloomed!

So in other words, I should just start making crosses with my good stud plants and when they flower if there anything worth registering, register it. And if its a remake then its either a nice remake or there all dog ugly. Right?

I don't worry about virus because I have a mostly historical hybrid & spices collection and almost everything is virused. The only time I would toss a plant is if it won't grow well do to virus or color break/deformity and if the plant is of great historical value it will be selfed and grown...
Where should I go to find out what crosses have already been made? I tried the RHS register but they have no record of some crosses I know that have been done. As an example C.Duvalliana (lueddemnniana x purpurata) no record.

As Art Chadwick Sr. Said "cattleyas live forever, if taken care of" there many plants in private collections that are much older. it's this virus purgeing that has taken many of them out.
Thanks all! I've placed an order for some species and hybrids from Orchids by Hauserman. And I'm looking at H & R's list.
What do you all think about Ecuaganera? There going to be at our spring show.
