    Paphiopedilum ciliolare semialbum

That was one of the ways that we got Paph sukakulii album forms, by selfing the diluted "albescent" form of sukhakulii 'Paleface'. That flower was somewhat similar to this ciliolare form. My guess is that selfing this one will produce some albino forms.

How do you organize your orchids? Or do you?

Too many plants to bother with such a thing.....I keep track of plants by organization within the greenhouse by cross or genus. Populations of flask seedlings are kept together and properly tagged. Culls or poor performers are discarded when needed and room is made for those that do well. When...

    Paph breeding questions

The first two both have an AM/AOS.......the last is probably a mericlone mutation from 'Sweet Fragrance' and was given the epithet to seperate it on the bench before it was also mericloned.

    inducing blooming in cuthbertsonii?

My plants bloomed when they thought it was time......grow them in masdevallia conditions and they do very well. They seem to be in full glory in the fall and the blooms last for several months.

    Paph. Supersuk x Lady Isabel

This is very close, if not identical to Paph Glaucopar..... I don't see Supersuk in this flower at all, nor Lady Isabel.

    Legal vs. Illegal

Glen's gigantifolium was imported from Germany with CITES paperwork from their authorities. It was legally done, but without documentation from the original country of origin. All of the other shipments cleared customs but according to USFWS the paperwork doesn't meet their criterion. It is a...

    Legal vs. Illegal

Paph anitum is considered a variety of adductum, so it is ok. These rules are based on USFWS "legality" decisions. Paph helenae was legal by being produced in a rescue center as was vietnamense. I am trying to re-write the rule to accept all plants regardless of legality with the liability...

Phrag. Fox Valley Fireball 'Fox Croft'

The effect is seen commonly as the bud is maturing. Under high temperatures, the flower colors are less red and more muted. Under cool temperatures and bright light the colors are much deeper red. This is true for most red flowers.......With phrags, you can have different colored flowers on the...
