This cross is always great. Maybe some people wouldn't agree but I like it more than phrag. Jason Fischer. Any more in the pipeline Tom? I still haven't been able to find one.

Please explain "higher temps on bloom color". Are you meaning consistently through the growth period or when the spike was forming?

The effect is seen commonly as the bud is maturing. Under high temperatures, the flower colors are less red and more muted. Under cool temperatures and bright light the colors are much deeper red. This is true for most red flowers.......With phrags, you can have different colored flowers on the same spike due to temperature differences.

Cheyenne,

I have three seed-pods in the lab using the original parents; two were the original (Barbara Le Ann 'Select' x R. Dixler 'Fox Valley' AM/AOS) and one was the reverse. I should have seedlings in about 12-14 months. Meanwhile, I have just two compots of something I believe will be similar, but on smaller growing plants: (Machelle Hershey 'Fox Valley' x R. Dixler 'Fox Valley' AM/AOS) e.g. instead of using B. Le Ann (which is besseae x fischeri), we used Machelle Hershey (which is d'alessandroi x fischeri) as the capsule parent. Not sure what to expect, really, but it should be quite nice; and we should have seedlings in about 9 months. (But not compots - there weren't enough flasks to sell compots and seedlings both.)

Thanks,

Consider them saved. If this group is like the last, we should have a good quantity to offer. Also sent in a seed capsule of Phrag. (Waunakee Sunset (the same one I posted a photo of a couple of weeks ago) x Rosalie Dixler 'Fox Valley' AM/AOS), that should have some nice potential with it's triple dose of besseae.

Very nice bloom! And it also sounds like you have some good things in the pipeline Phrag-wise. Sounds like my Phrag collection may be expanding just a bit... :)
