    Ma Belle ?

How tall is the stem? Most of my Ma Belles have fairly short spikes, about 10cm.

Paphiopedilum charlesworthii fm. sandowiae (album) ‘Titan’ AM/AOS

Depends of the outside temps: heaters are set to 55 but if we have a mild winter the average low might be 65-70 with only occasional dips into the 50s.

Paphiopedilum charlesworthii fm. sandowiae (album) ‘Titan’ AM/AOS

FWIW - I can trick armeniacum and a few other Parvis by giving them a 'dryer' season in the winter months for about 2 months, followed by a 'rainy' season for 1-2 months to convince them it's Spring and time to bloom.

    paphiopedilum wenshanense fma album

IIRC, this is more correctly called Paph. wenshanense var. aurea or Paph. wenshanense fma. aurea. A true album would not have pigmentation on the underside of its leaves.

    Habenaria Regnieri

How do you handle the 'dry period' with these?

Mine have never held pods - too hot here? Any suggestions to getting seed pods to hold?

    Paphiopedilum Doll’s Kobold

I love their weedy-ness and ability to 'shrub' in a small pot - I have several that put out 5-7 flowers in 5" pots. Have used them in breeding to get 4"-5" pot shrubs.

YOWZA! What more could you want? 🤟:D👍

Cool flower and bug! ID’s please

That far north, it is probably the Chinese Mantis. A little immature for being this late in the season, it had better eat and grow a lot before the cold comes.

Paphiopedilum Wossner Helene (charlesworthii x helenae)

Love these because they are so 'shrubby' - they will easily put up 4-5 spikes in a 4" pot in their 2nd or 3rd year of blooming.

    Paph. Chou-Yi Rookie

My biggest plants are 2 growth with 8" or more leafspan, but no sign of blooming. I split them up between 'brachy-dark' and 'Paph-bright' to see which blooms first.

I also have a couple of Rookies from Sam - how big are your blooming plants?

    Batch of tigrinums

Yes, please. I've had a bushy pot of them for years but the growths don't get very big (5") and don't bloom. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hookerae

IMO random extra tissue (that the judges hate ;)). I've seen these 'antennae' before and it seems to be a problem in a bud's development, a random occurrence.

    Chameleon babies

Bad analogy: There are geraniums and pothos, and there are orchids. Some things are very easy (just water once a week, fertilize whenever) and some things are more involved to do them right (native habitats, photoperiod, dry seasons, fertilizer PPMs and dissolved solids, etc.). Chameleons are...

    Chameleon babies

Healthy bug farming takes a constant effort, and then feeding the chams daily... no vacations over 2-3 days

    Philippinense palawan album

I've grown both varieties for 20+ years: the 'normal' one has 15"- 18" leaves and averages 6 flowers per spike, and the 'compact' one has 6" - 8" leaves and averages 3 flowers per spike.

    P. bellatulum

FWIW - here in the southeastern US, leucochilum and godefroyae are reliable May-June bloomers.

    Chameleon babies

From my experience years ago - no, and no. They are fantastic and wonderful!!! but IMO a full time job to feed them fresh healthy LIVE food.
