    Paph Ho Chi Minh

If someone were of a subversive political bent, ( and had a talent for crossing orchids) they might backcross HCM to vietnamense, and name it "Mem. Saigon", or some such appropriate appellation.

    Some Nick Tannaci paphs

I got the offer from him as well...I think it was 10 plants (his choice ) in bud shipped bare root, for a total of 120$

    Top 5 starter paphs/phrags

Jason Fisher seems to be a bright red phrag on a lot of peoples lists, but it isn't long petaled. It is a smaller plant I think. Since you are in the Chicago area, you should go up to Chuck Acker's in Wisconsin ; look for threads with his name in them. He has some long petaled red crosses. I...

    Hello from Ontario

HI Christine, and welcome. I have a couple dozen Amaryllis myself, but over the yrs fewer and fewer rebloome, as the bulbs seem to get smaller. Any hints on reblooming them, and growing them up big again? I have heard I need to fertilize more, but not sure what is best. Do you put them...

    Paph. venustum

I love them too. Will the petals reflex as they age, or is that a fault of culture or genetics you see in other plants? I prefer the petals held out straight like yours!

    paph. Golden Jubilee

WOW, I like it too! And does the armeniacum reduce the size of the plant/leaves? Where did you get it?

    2009 ST Fund Auction

We never got this organized before did we? Maybe we can have sections, ie one week will be brachies and bull dogs and long petal phrags, the next can be multi flower paphs and besseae influenced crosses....then people can submit their plants to fill in a slot, or, we can determin the slots by...

    Guess the cross

my records say besseae "neon baby' if i recall correctly, which I thought was a standard red one

    Guess the cross

Kevin got it right! [Franz Glanz=(richteri x besseae)] x richteri.....making it 3/4's richteri and 1/4 besseae The besseae color sure washed out, but it has nice size for a tiny plant. I think I have one more of this cross so it will be interesting to see what that one blooms out as too.

    Guess the cross

I didn't say it was a Patti MacHale cross (it is not), and the back cross, if it were could have been back to pearcei ( which would make more sense as then it would be 3/4 of a smallish progenitor) What I said (or meant to say....sorry for the confusion) was that NYEric had managed to guess the...

    Guess the cross

by throwing enough guesses out , it seems Eric has found the parents, but not in the right combination. This is a really tiny plant, so some of the parents suggested don't make good sense to me, but it is a first bloom seedling. It seemed to grow more golden toned as it ages. It has held its...

    Guess the cross

no, neither are parents of this one

    Guess the cross

This is a cross of a primary back to one of the parent species....a nice tiny "teacup"phrag. It is in a 2" pot, plant about 6" tall
