Paphiopedilum primulinum var. purpurascens
A bit of a hiatus in the slipper department these days. The Oncidium types are stealing the show. The first flowwer on this one was deformed but this one looks OK.- toddybear

Orchid missing link - Gilliesia graminea
Well, I'm sure it is not the OFFICIAL missing link, but I think Gilliesia graminea must be on the way to becoming an orchid! To my knowledge, it is th eonly non-orchid to employ insect mimicry to attract a pollinator. This bulb is native to Chile. I grew it from seed.- toddybear

Hedychium horsfieldii...a bizarre ginger
Grew this from seed and it bloomed within a year. The flower was pathetic and it was a wonder I didn't throw it out but next thing, it produced this! The seed capsule and seeds are spectacular. Dwarf size for a ginger as well...just 24".- toddybear
