    Paphiopedilum vietnamense

That's some fabulous color! Very nice. I have 3 from Popow ordered and waiting until the weather warms up to ship. I sure hope they bloom out as nice as this!

I have the 1996 edition, and although Amazon list the product details for the 2003 edition, in looking at the 'Look Inside' table of contents on Amazon, it is the 1996 edition that they show. Sorry I can't help more!

    Bad Culture

I really appreciate your ideas about improving presentation and display, improving overall culture, and growing your plants to the best of their potential. I need these kinds of reminders, as I have a relatively 'young' collection and get caught up just in the excitement of seeing a plant bloom...

Another one of Nick Tannacis paphs

Thanks for that! Yes, I loved your CMW. So, I guess, like in most things when you increase risk, you can increase reward. By taking a chance breeding outside of the Brachy group, it seems that you can get some really nice things. But I'm also aware that the potential for deformed or crippled...

What's weird about this? I love those spots! Is S. Gratrix generally a good parent, does anyone know? I've got a couple seedlings with it as a parent (but crossed with Parvis). I can only hope I get some spotting like this!

Thanks again everyone! My focus now is to get more growths so that the next flowering can be really spectacular.

    Paph jackii

Thanks very much! I do have malipoense which I have raised (and am still raising!) from a seedling that I got in a 1.5" pot. Its coming along nicely, but is still a single growth. Leaf span now is about 5 inches. Its grown in the same window at the same temps as the jackii, yes. All of my...

    Paph jackii

Thanks, everyone! Elena, I noticed this one starting to spike in early November, so its taken just over two months. I am not sure how long the flowers are supposed to last, but I think I am going to cut the spike on this one (since it is still a single growth plant). I really want the plant...

    Paph jackii

Here's my jackii, which has finally opened up enough to get a good look at it. It is the first time bloom on a single growth plant. The inflorescence is 18.5 inches tall, the leaf span is 10 inches. I really like this one! I'm especially fond of the veining pattern.
