Avoid lava rock and use perlite if you can get it.
andreettae is quite sensitive to overfeeding and will grow fine with your besseae. avoid nights under 14C.
Yes, andreettae and schlimii self pollinate sometimes, anguloi very frequently and fischerii self pollinate always.
The natural hybrids also self pollinate.

The setup is quite simple and works fine. The only problem could be salt buildup if you cannot use RO water. Also it requires regular checking of the pump.
Yes, there is a water tank (~20 liters) in the base and the pump turns on every 4h for 30mins with a timer. The key is to use good quality water and replace it every 10 days max.
We tried to grow some phrags over the "Ecoweb" from Ray and they love it!.
This is the cross that we made using a peruvian pearcei and our best longifolium.
The plants are pearcei sized and the flowers can last more than 30 days.

Named after my older son. I was hoping for for something almost white when I made the cross some years ago. After seeing the results with other andreettae hybrids i realized that the andreettae color was going to be dominant, and I am glad!
It is a very compact hybrid and very easy to grow.

As promised: This is the natural hybrid of andreettae and schlimii. Another interesting discovery in Colombia. It grows side by side with andreettae and always self pollinate.
It is the one in the right in the 2 first pictures. With schlimii in the first one and with anguloi in the second one...
Hi friends! I have been quite busy lately and I have not visited this forum frequently. sorry about that!
We recently described 2 new natural hybrids from Colombia Phrag x daguense (schlimii x andreettae) and P. x narinense (anguloi x fischeri).
Here you have some pictures of the x narinense...
It could be Phrag. Fancy Free (cardinale x pearcei). Some cardinale plants are labelled as schlimii, it would explain why your plant is labelled as Carol Kanzer.
This is our Peter Croezen (pearcei x kovachii). I would expect something similar but a little bit darker. A quite ugly hybrid, as most part of the primary made with kovachii.
