Which should I get, fischeri or schlimii?

uh oh...tricky how? I don't like the sound of that one bit, especially coming from someone who's semi-pro at this business. this may change things entirely... edit: and furthermore, if these two are indeed overly tricky, does anyone have any suggestions of something slightly less tricky...

Which should I get, fischeri or schlimii?

I can only get one of them, and am having trouble deciding which I like more. They're both small, fuzzy, pink phrags, and both are the same price and in spike. Visually I think I like the fischeri a little better, but I've never seen either in person, so it could just be deceptive photography...

I just ordered my first slipper...

So far the lowii seems to be doing just fine...in fact, I may even be joining Marco in the sheath-hoping-for dance soon. I just received my second slipper in the mail today. It was my free orchid for joining AOS. Paph Vert 'Crystal Court' HCC/AOS x Treasure Island 'Jack.' It looks pretty...

    in sheath?

I may be joining marco soon in the chanting group...my new lowii has what looks like either a new leaf or a sheath. it's still inside the crown, just visible when the plant is transilluminated. either way, awesome. :D

Phrag aka John - You rock!

there's instructions all over the internets for how to solve rubiks cubes. I used to be able to do it in 15 minutes, which is the only productive thing I learned how to do in my thermodynamics class back in college. the method I learned involves solving one side completely, then working...

    How to pollinate your Paphs!

Matt, that's an excellent demonstration, and certainly something I'll have to try eventually (once I get enough flowers that I don't mind "wasting" one). After the pod develops, how does one know that it's ready? And once you determine it's ready, then what?

    Phrag. klotzscheanum x pearcei

With any luck (meaning getting members of my family to agree on a few things), this cross will have a name shortly. Assuming this all goes down, it will be named after my aunt, who is dying of breast cancer and currently in hospice care. Of course, if anyone wants to give me money to...

I need some help with terminology

I'm well aware that it's orchidsource forum and slipperorchid forum that are the problems. orchidboard is the other other white meat. :D or the good board. I tend to follow orchidboard more because I only have one paph.

Botanical German to English - Does such a book exist?

most german syntax is similar to english...there's a few notable exceptions though. sometimes a verb or verbs will get kicked to the end of a clause. there's lots of good grammar books out there. just get on amazon and type in german grammar. I have "german in review" specifically for...

Marco, I know I'm no expert on taxonomy, but how can tigrinum x tigrinum be a hybrid??? Wouldn't this just be a sib cross or a selfing?
