    Ecuagenera is puzzling us again.

I don't know what you're all on about. Look at this Grande we got from Ecua at the Asheville show, it's perfect.

    Paph Season 2024

I don't remember if I posted this one but it was the most anitum-shaped one I've had so far. Most have been dominated by stonei in shape. I gave it to a society member.

    Ecuagenera is puzzling us again.

I've always questioned the wisdom of trying to operate an orchid nursery in Minnesota, I'm amazed they've kept the lights on this long selling mass market stuff at the absurd prices they list.

All the wrong influence from anitum showed up in that one lol

Sold My Paph tigrinum with 2 spikes for your BS sanderianum from Orchid Inn

I'd have happily made the trade but none of my OI sandis are BS yet.

    Paph Season 2024

Still getting a few blooms here and there, but most of the plants are well into the growing season now. Gloria Naugle Shun-fa Golden Eva Weigner Yet another disappointing Hilo Bald Eagle. This cross has been a real dud, I've only kept one plant so far out of at least a dozen bloomed...

Paph. Wossner Black Wings ‘Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes’

It makes no sense that a larger, more mature plant would have larger, higher quality flowers and more of them pushing a young plant with potential into award range?

Other centers may differ but at mine they don't consider it their job to debate taxonomy, plants labeled as JB will be compared to the record for JB and plants labeled WBW will be compared to the record for WBW.

    Sierra Nevada center by chance?

Paph. Wossner Black Wings ‘Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes’

No need to wait for five, three is awardable, four is outstanding, only one awarded WBW has had five flowers. I am curious what the measurements are on those flowers, at a glance they look to be well within HCC quality range unless they were unusually small.

Grow that up a bit and you'll get your award for sure.

    Pair of P haynaldianum

Give the right some time to grow up and I bet it will catch up in size and be the better flower overall.

    Paph Season 2024

Tired of stonei yet? I'm not so here's another one. Only three buds but it has great color, a nice wide petal stance, and is about as flat as you could hope for a stonei to be. I'm excited to see this one grow up.

Paphiopedilum Last Isabel - 1st bloom

I'd be curious to see a better shot of the staminode.

    Paph Season 2024

Another stonei is open, this one from Paph Paradise. The first plant to open is well past prime but I couldn't resist taking a group shot anyway.

    Cattleya porphyroglossa

Not putting on a big show yet as it's just a little first bloomer, but I'm told this is an uncommon species in the US so I thought it would be worth posting.

    Free-flowering Paphs?

I would consider modern Maudiae type complex breeding to be exactly what you're asking for. They're fast growing and bloom whenever a growth matures, which can be non-stop on a large plant.

    Repotting every year?

I get 3-4 years out of it before the Grodan is too clogged up with algae and organic debris.

    Paph rothschildianum first bloom

    That's a keeper, nicely done!
