Agreed. It’s not going anywhere. I want to see it when its all grown up! The current growth is only just flowering size.

Really nice and an improvement of the flowers. Also the dorsal is standing up proudly.
Well the venosa striping has continued to develop over the life of the flower. It’s quite striking now. Veining is now visible on the lip.
I‘ll make a new label and just call it jenmanii venosa.
I remember that the vendor said that the plant was an import from South America.

Leslie, how common is type of pattern? You don’t see many photos of this type on the web.
It’s not common at all esp jenmaniis. More available now in lueddemanianas.
I wonder what the genetics of this trait are like. I imagine that it is very recessive. leslie, any thoughts?
intriguing pattern
In my inquiries into venosas of other species, it seems like it’s a partial dominant trait that is moderated by the other parent. To pass through, the petals must be anthocyacin recessive in other parent aka whitish petals.
Perhaps try breeding this to an alba, white coerulea or selfing? It’s rare enough in this species to experiment to see the gene expression.
