O.K., I'll settle for a one growth appletonianum if the growth is mature. Anybody out there?????

How many of our vendors have you checked in with?

Also there are several several variety or synonims floating around for appletonianum. A popular one is hainanensis. Ususally a bit smaller, but brighter colored.

The forms of appletonianum that are labelled as such will have boring leaves with pale tesselation. The forms labelled "hainanensis" will have much better foliage. These are not rare plants, and ebay (where every paph is "rare') is probably the cheapest source. These paphs aren't the hardest to grow, not the easiest either, and are very prone to blasting. But, they should be quite inexpensive. If it is not one of the cheaper paphs you have bought, pass on it and wait for the next to come along.

I finally found one on ebay Springwater Orchids which was
recommended by a member of OSF. I've never tried this
ebay vendor, so we shall see what kind of plant I receive
for $23.00 including shipping. The plant is supposed to be
blooming size...whatever that means in my greenhouse.

You did well. Springwater is run by Thanh Nguyen, who runs a class operation. His plants are all high quality, and he stands behind them. If you have any problem with your plant, and I mean any, no matter how minor it may be, he will try to rectify it. My last order from him included an armeniacum in bud....but the bud was blasted when it arrived. He immediately, with no request from me, reduced my bill. $23 is about fair for hainanense....it shouldn't cost more than $25, and from Thanh it will be a well grown plant.

Thanks for the reassurance Eric. Mokeck turned me on to
Mr. Nguyen with high praise.

Well, Ray, why didn't you tell me??!! You could have sent a couple with my sphag. If you posted the apples., I didn't see the post. I'm not on the computer until quite
late at night and not always alert, you know. BTW, the
concolor and primacolor are growing like weeds...many,
many new growths and filling 8" pots. I'm beginning to like them for the foliage!
