not sure if this is available in Europe. I grow a bunch of catasetums and spider mites are evidently inevitable. I was advised to consider Talak and have had no issues when I remember to spray occasionally. Cheap too.

I only had good results with Avid on both Spider Mites and False Spider Mites.

People say Avid is the nuclear option. It will work but is so toxic one needs to wear a hazmat suit. Only to be used in the most dire circumstances for the most prized plants

I propose you insecticide - acetampirid- chemical name, they a lot of products from sygenta, bayer etc.
1 gr. with 1 l of water with some drops of soap.
Decis - deltametrine is nice product too. Bayer.
Of course you must treat them outdoors with gloves, mask etc.

I used Avid once twice before and it worked very well for me. To avoid any chemicals getting on you, wear rubber gloves, mask, long pants and long sleeve shirt.

That is a good one! It is almost as "good" as injecting with bleach.

Avid is my go to, I've used it for years on roses and orchids. You want to get rid of them because they are suckers and suckers spread viruses.

To up the the treat , smc for focus technologies is strong, probably to much for orchids. I use it for some pphals and succulents preventive measure for newly acquired plant and for succulents the leaves wilted a little bit and one phals was heavily touched, like the succulents. The others were ok for now…

Hi,
I´ve been battling false spider mites for sometime, a pest which I think I got from growing Hoya alongside my orchids. I have been looking for a remedy, but in Sweden you can´t really buy anything that contains pyrethrins anymore (since 2020, I think, it´s illegal to use). I have read that many people have seen good results using horticultural oils and such. Has anyone tried SMC (spider mite control) on Phrags and Paphs with good results? I´m inclined to try it, but some people - if reviews on amazon is to be trusted - have reported leaf loss when using the product. SMC contains mostly canola oil (94%). Sucrashield is not really available in Europe, as far as I know.

Otherwise I´m thinking that I may be able to formulate a DIY horticultural oil by using mineral oil and some surfactant/emulsifier.

Have you tried Azamax. It's a concentrated form of Neem oil. I've have the best success with this and spraying with soap and then with alcohol. Rotating between the solutions one at a time. This way the bugs can't become immune to any one thing.

That was @Oscarman13 from Edmonton, Canada. I thought he might be looking for Avid or something else for mites too... or maybe he was telling others the vendor could not ship internationally.(* I don't read every post either)
