Beginner Phrag Collection New Growth!

I am very excited! 3 of my plants are showing new growth! I received my collection of primary hybrids from Eucanegera! I also have 2 species. I had terrible damage over a monstrously hot summer! Lost Fritz Schomberg, most new growth except on Ecuagenera Gigi, and quite a number of younger growths. What survived is coming back! Obvious growth and a lot of signs of new growth! Patience with me getting the pics up! First timer!

Well, forgive this, somehow I lost my post, so need to post a reply to said lost post (at least the pics are here!)
I have New Growth, and all babies (6 total) are growing happily!
I received these primary hybrids from Eucagenera last April and suffered Horrible damage due to heat! Had a monstrously hot temps over 90 degrees for a good portion of the summer! Now they are recovering and obviously growing! 6 babies in all! Two are very tiny. These are my first Phrags, many Kovachii hybrids, Besseae, etc. The plants thriving are Eucagenera Dream, Eucagenera Gigi and Hannah Popow

I adore new growth and am always investigating lil nubbins' on my Phrags. Once you
bloom one or two, you'll be hooked for life. Trust me on this.

Oh, I believe I am already hooked for life! I am quite enamoured with my Phrags! I have received much good advice from this forum on how to protect my Kovachii and Besseae primary hybrids from summer hot spells!

They look good. My only suggestions would be to carefully remove any dried, dead leaves from the base of new growths so that it is easier for the roots to emerge, and to make sure the emerging roots are covered with medium so that they don't dry out and die. One of the reasons I like phrags is that they grow so quickly. If I mess up and a leaf is damaged, no problem, just wait a few years and I will have a whole new plant. Mike

Well, with my Fritz Schomberg I couldn’t keep up with dead leaves! I had 4 healthy plants and two babies and in two months I was removing the final dead growth! I was told to keep the rhizome and roots intact in pot and treat as others, in case new growth would occur! I am about to give up though!. I am giving it until March then it gets chucked! Roots are still heathy but they are never going to bloom for me lol

Phrags, especially besseae and Pk hybrids and species need cool, most air. Phrags do not grow as quickly as many other orchids but, if you are a heavy waterer then they are good for you. BTW, where are you located?

I had foggers in my GH for my Phrgs. I have them on low benches to get the full effect of the fog. My seem to love this and begin blooming at about 3 years.

Yeah, we don't mess with extra water after dripping into my downstairs neighbor's house!

Phrags, especially besseae and Pk hybrids and species need cool, most air. Phrags do not grow as quickly as many other orchids but, if you are a heavy waterer then they are good for you. BTW, where are you located?

I am located in central MN
I have pretty much received all the growing advice I need. Going to be using a fan with cool mist this summer on hot days

Yeah, we don't mess with extra water after dripping into my downstairs neighbor's house!

Ha ha, I had the fellow upstairs flood my house when his aquarium sprang a bad leak! Me and the Super were banging on his door and ended up just going in and trying to get the water up! Took the noise of the water Vac to wake up the resident! He comes to find me catching and saving fish and bailing water into pails…there he stands in his shorts scratching his head and saying “what is going on?” The Super started reading him the riot act and told him to start helping!

Nope, not yet. I have 5 months vacation, When I finally take one I will redo the floor and the kitchen.

Actually, Orchid Limited has closed it’s nursery to the public permanently! Their online presence (Orchid Web) has grown immensely! Locals (in the Twin City Metro Area) can get curb side pickup! They contact you when you are ready! Actually, Eucagenera is far more reasonably priced. They make it fairly easy for you to get their plants from Ecuador to you! Even with the handling fees, you save money!

I agree! I have purchased a lot of Phrags from Eucagenera. All, strong and healthy! I always enjoy their plants.
