I haven't posted much lately. Not a good season in my GH. One reason may be the dull and dark weather (darkest winter on record). Well, here at least is the first bloom of a tiny seedling of Bel Royal from Franz Glanz' breeding. I've been growing it for two years now. Been happy to see a sheat last July(!), got worried since nothing happened until just before Xmas, and got really exited when I noticed the number of bracts when the stem grew on. That thing is 1,30 meter high without the pot. Flower has good size (petals average 14 cm length, dorsal is 4x6cm). I'm happy with it.

Damn! You had to use part of your bamboo plant to stake it! That plant is totally awesome Carsten. Tell me, was it the kolopakingii or topperi variety used in the cross?

It was the kolopakingii variety. I think the label is kolo "Franzi" x roth "Woessner Adler", both parents awarded in our system.
Justin, that seedling was already 1 meter leafspan when I bought it. My second Bel Royal from Sam has just half the size.
What I like in particular is the spacing and presentation of the flowers on the stem. I'll try to take better pics next weekend.

Your plant is going nuts! Very nice and the flower count is remarkable. Job well done.

I would like a plant like this.very impressive, plant and spike.
congrats ,anna
