My big sister lives out in the wilds of western wyoming (note the subtle alliteration there ). a few weeks ago she sent some pics of her and her boyfriend (both on their horses) while they were out riding actually rounding up lost cattle. Just this last tuesday they got some winter weather, so I thought I'd post about how quickly the weather can change out there. She tells me that it can frost there any month of the year, and towards the teton mountains you can have snow falling from the sky in july (ick); great only if you need some ice for your ice tea while you're out on a picnic! I spent a few winters in the jackson hole area working at ski resorts etc and though it was very pretty there and there were lots of activities, the winter was just too long. It was pretty ironic that the last winter I was there, when I headed home to upstate ny in mid-april, the two coldest places were the mountain regions of northwestern wyoming (jackson) and upstate ny!
sister's boyfriend; note that this is a rude horse; if you look closely, you can see that it's sticking its tongue out at the camera!

neither man nor beast enjoys wind/snow at this time of year
trusty cattle dog (at least until the mountain lions show up)
