This is not normally something I would buy. I won it at our orchid societies Christmas Party. Big dark starry flowers. What's not to like. This should look fantastic when the plant increases in size.

Impressive blooms and the photo is outstanding, but I have to tell you it is clearly mislabeled.

Burrageara was (Cochlioda x Miltonia x Odontoglossum x Oncidium) before the great renaming in the Oncid alliance, and would be mostly Miltonidium or Oncidiopsis now. But this is clearly mostly Brassia, probably a Bratonia (Miltassia) Shelob or similar, as already mentioned. Burrageara could be quite cool growing. This would be warm intermediate.

Thanks Kirk. Googling some photos of Burrageara demonstrates you are clearly right on this. The flowers look nothing like my plant. Not being an expert in this group of orchids I was none the wiser. My plant definitely has Brassia in it. The label has the nursery in which this plant originated from so I will email them and see if they can give me a correct identification.

Thanks for pointing this out Kirk.
