Amazing, even more than your last post! I looked for the older post, and unfortunately most of your older photos were gone... So, do you grow it at the temperature of Melbourne outside (mentioned here)? Or do you just expose it to cooler temp at the end of winter?

Friggin' spectacular!!! Do pass along your cultural conditions. Looks like a cork mount that is completely covered. That one deserves a cultural award for sure.

That's unbelievable....great growing indeed!! Wish I could see and smell this in person.

Thanks for all the nice comments. naoki, It doesn't seem to make much difference if I give a cool period outside or not as to the flowering performance. This year I kept it inside (min 15C) because I was trying to time it for a show (which of course didn't work)
Because they grow in winter, you need to supply some heat at that time anyway. I left a small plant outside all winter and it was quite retarded as it was not dormant then. I think a min of about 10C with tons of winter light is perfect for this species.
Cattleya schilleriana, Cattleya warneri, and Catt tenebrosa are exactly the same. (fall/winter growers). That's when they need mild feeding and watering and a bit of heat. Most of summer, all they reallyneed is water. That's something the books never told me!! I think it's the main reason some people have trouble with it. Even Withner says it needs a strict dormancy which is completely wrong!

Thank you very much for the tips, Mike! That is very helpful. I can't keep it alive for long (it could be that I can't provide enough light under the artificial light). But I got my 4th one recently, and I'll pay attention to the winter growing.

Don't know what to say. It is just a joy for the eyes. Thanks for sharing and thanks for sharing your culture advices. I often feel those 'strict dormancy' rules are half-wrong. Dew and mist are mostly undervalued.

And a bit jealous, too

I must admit I rarely click on Catt pics as they are basically a dime a dozen IMO. But I had never heard of this species before, and I must say..... AMAZING! I am so glad I clicked on this Catt!! Well done amigo!!!
