Cattleya (Sophronitis) coccinea

I am pretty impressed by this 4N plant. I divided this little guy last year. I thought it would have skipped a year of blooming... But he didn't and all the divisions but one (a single growth) grew quickly and decided to bloom.

I bought it from JL Orchids in 2011. I grow it as cool as I can... but it is far more warm tolerant than I thought since it receives several hours of (almost) full sun in summertime outdoors. I must say there is a light screen for mosquitoes (the plants are in a gazebo). The summer highs are usually of 24 to 27 C. Lows are well under 17 all year long. I try to keep it as long as I can outside in Fall (near frost point), along with Masdies. In winter, highs are usually under 20, lows of 9 to 11.

I laughed at 'your' version of warm...............our summer nights are your day maximum. They do tolerate higher temps but Im sure dont like them as much.
