Cattleya Violacea Var. Semi Alba

I got this one from Hawaii last August as a NBS seedling. Almost a year later, it has put out its first bloom. Only one flower, but still a beauty! It started to open yesterday, and now its fully open. No fragrance yet, but I'm sure it'll come soon.

At any rate this is a lovely flower and ..... you must love the flower a lot because you put 6 photos here which show the flower more or less in the same position.

Thanks. I brought a seedling last year and it just sat there and did nothing for months and months. Then there was were weeks of sweltering, sultry weather and it started growing fast and produced a one inch tall cane. Well, now its six inches more to go.

It's a warm grower, so the temperature in my greenhouse doesn't get below 65 degrees at night, with daytime temps of around 80 degrees.

Ahhh, perfect. Just recently got a small C.violacea, and my low night temps are 58F-62F averaging 60.8F, which some say is a little low for violacea; I guess we shall see…? As a plus, days can get up to 90F…

I think violacea is just a stunning bi-foliate!
