Phrag. Kaila Quintal = Phrag. Peruflora's Cirilia Alca x schlimii

Went to water the Draculas today, Christmas Day, and this little plant opened its first flower. It is this plants first flowering, and is the only flower the "spike" will have. Form isn't that great, but I suspect that it will be better next blooming. I have 3 other Phrag. Kaila Quintal plants, one in spike. I'll be curious to see the variation in flowers.

I should mention, that I merely snapped this picture, as I wanted to get back to spend time with my family. The flower is quite large, about 4-5 times the size of a normal sclimii. I will try to take photos for size comparison soon.

It's a neat flower for sure and it was really nice to see it open for Christmas! I have another in spike, very curious to see what it will look like.

I think form will improve next flowering. It's relatively flat, but it's "problems" are evident in the photo. The color is very nice but is hard to see in the photo. I need some photo lessons on orchids since it is very different from the landscape photography I usually enjoy doing.

Is it just me or it looks a lot like a Eumelia Arias ?
Still a great flower. Congrats! :)

Really neat! Yes Dot and I'm still trying to bloom a primary!
And I'm still trying to grow kovachii!!!

Dot, they have secondary hybrids now and I think you even own this one... :)

I should have remembered that -- but I think this is the one you didn't have at the meeting, but you have me on your list for one when you do. Right???
