Bolero

Love this plant and it's little bulbs growing over the side of the pot. Only two flowers this year (6 last year) but they are beautiful pristine flowers.

The plant is a keeper.

Bolero must be Down Under with the Coel and all the Cyms :D

These are always gorgeous, great species.

It's become one of my favourites. I will be holding onto this and working out how to get more flowers on it.

How do you get them to bloom?? I've had mine for years, and it grows very well, but never blooms. And I grow cool, too! Does it need a lot of light in the winter? Humidity? Water? I love this species, and I want to see the flowers!

I'm interested in it's culture as well. One of our local orchid society members has promised me a division, but I'm thinking if it's truly a cool grower it won't be happy in my house...

Well to be honest I don't really monitor the humidity all that much.

I do water it well in summer and give it a rest in winter. I grow in CHC as well.

Aside from that I can't tell you anything else. Oh and it gets 50% shade in winter and it grows beside native den's, cattleya's and cymbidiums.

P.S. As it grows outside it gets cold weather in winter and hot weather in summer and everything in between.

Where do you live? When you say you grow it outside, you mean all year? Refresh my memory - what's CHC?

Yes I live in southern Australia and use coconut chips.

I will add perlite the next time I repot as well.

GReat!!! I am thinking of adding Coelogyne plants in my collection!!!!

Hi,

I'm married to an Australian Greek who moved here when she was 4. Do you know where Pyrgos is? That's where she was born anyway.

Good talking to you.

;-)

Hello,

Many greetings to you and your wife...!!!!!!
Pyrgos is in Peloponisos (central-southern Greece), but there are many towns and villages throughout Greece that are called like this!

Good talking to you, too... :D
