Hi Michael in Italy I find this mix
This substrate is a high quality product of Japanese origin. Consisting of akadama hard quality Ibaraki triple red band, kiryuzuna hard quality and washed hyuga (pomice).
The percentages of the three components are as follows:
• akadama hard quality triple band: 60%;
• kiryuzuna hard quality: 20%;
• hyuga (pomice) washed: 20%.
what do you think About?

Hi did you find this mix in a bonsai store?
Kiryuzuna is one of pumices that is more wet (retains moisture).
Akadama (tripe red brand): it's too soft for the goeringii.

Also, there is way too much akadama in this blend, the ratio is not right.
The main component in the Cym. goeringii mix is kanuma (hard kanuma).

I know 2 people from the US who used bonsai mix and from what they told me and from my observation it's too wet.

I have never used a bonsai mix.

I am preparing for an East Asian Cymbidium talk. Here is one of the slides about the mix. This is a diagram/chart from one of the books. I translated it. This chart shows you the list of components that can be used with their respective pH value. It also explains what happens when the soil becomes more acidic/alkaline.
*Sphagnum moss is only used temporarily for transporting barerooted plants during transit (max 1 month). After receiving the plant, it should be potted immediately into the pumice mix. *
