Paph. dayanum. The size of these blooms never fails to amaze me, this one is small for the species (I am not sure if it is the summer heat) and measures 13.5cm across.
Furry edges with raspberry spots in its throat, .... sounds like a candidate for the CDC!
It is only now when I am peering out of one eye (the light is too bright to open both eyes at the same time) that I notice two tiny mealies on the dorsal! With shaking hands, I did them remove!
Happy new year everyone! Eric, I will take a pic of the plant for you as soon as the espresso has worked its magic, and I have finished my panini with smoked salmon, mayo, chargrilled artichokes and sliced pickles (all that seems to be left in the fridge after last night)
No, I bought it from a small road-side nursery on the outskirts of Sandakan. It was one of four plants that I purchased at the nursery 4 years ago, the other three are plain leaf and are yet to flower. I am hoping to get a few from Michael and Ben September this year.
