I was walking by a small patch of woods in Cutchogue, when I happened to glance at them....saw 3 bucks just standing there, looking at me. Now it seems that all my life I've only seen does or fawns....or bucks with tiny antlers. These guys all had full, huge racks. On the way back, looked at the woods again, and saw this doe right near the road, back to me but just looking at me. Must have had a fawn, her udders were full.

Ah, Nature! -- and then there's the water bottle in front…

You are lucky to see bucks. We see does and fawns in our back yard quite regularly, but rarely see a buck.

I had two young bucks and a doe in my back yard yesterday.

We see deer - and possums, raccoons, turkeys, and all sorts of birds - fairly frequently (and the occasional springtime black bear), as our neighborhood is on the edge of 500 acres of protected land.

was just talking about how though I spend a lot of time in the woods and driving up north, I still have not seen a bear. is this in an area where hunting isn't allowed because of village zones and/or population? last fall when I helped my sister with moving details in south orange, nj there was a buck right in their back yard eating the crabapple tree, (houses and yards surround everything everywhere) so she went on back porch and then yard saying 'shoo' and waving her arms, and it left though reluctantly, looking back periodically as if to say 'she's crazy'. every other day either a doe and fawns or the buck would visit the yard

has anyone else noticed that animals are starting to eat yard things more, or eating things they haven't before? at friend's farm they were saying that they were watching a deer last year walking across the field in front of the stand, and it had a tomato plant branch hanging out of it's mouth, with tomatoes dangling off it it; they had never seen deer eating tomatoes before. others have rabbits eating tomato plants right to the ground

We've had significant problems for a few years now at the house in Gladwin, Michigan. Deer have been eating our tomatoes, squash, beans, cabbage, apples, grapes and even young spruce trees. Gardening has become a futile enterprise for anyone without good fences. We installed ours this Spring.

No, not really. They've always been eager and able to destroy just about anything I plant. They're not quite as bad as the goats yet, but close. It's not unusual to look back and see one or two following the tractor 15-20 feet behind. I got home from a trip to the store the other day and there was a doe teaching her progeny to feast on my plantings of alleged "deer-resistant" flowers. I honked and they barely looked up. At least they don't leave much damage - not like when the neighbor's pigs get loose.

Deer in Nashville neighborhoods have been pretty common since I moved here in 95. Sometime in the early 2000's they were so overpopulated, some kind of blood protozoan went nuts and cut them back a bit.

Although I live pretty far out of town, I probably drive past at least one fresh car hit every couple of days on my way back and forth to work in town.

Everyone in my family has had at least one car/deer incident.

We have a lot of car/deer accidents here in the Greater Lansing Area too! I see plenty of fresh roadkill daily. The two hour drive between the two residences is always littered with dead deer as well.
