I deflasked gigantifolium yesterday Paph gigantifolium 'Cheng' x self from HS.. Not much info and no forum posts about growing them from flask. From all the info I gathered - shady, warm, humid, don't let dry out, similar to what I do for sanderianum and anitum seedlings. Is that correct or am I missing something?
Thanks a lot.

They look great Natalia! I have a Gigant cross and it's a super slow grower but it does do best in shade with lots of humidity. It's very sensitive to feeding too. I went a bit overboard a while back and it certainly did not like that but after a few weeks of just rain water it is doing well and putting up new leaves and thickening out the old ones. From what I've read, the best culture is to imitate that for antium.

My gigantifolium was a large seedling and I grew it the same as my sandies, anitum etc. You won't need as much light as a bigger plant but I'd grow them exactly as you suggest....shady, warm and humid.

Beautiful seedlings!

Your potting up job looks great. I agree with the others, warm, somewhat moist and humid. As for light, mine is under T12 grow lights and seems to be quite happy.

Great, thank you everybody! I am glad that I got it right.
Dodidoki, I used pre-mixed stuff from Ravenvision, I think it contains bark, perlite, charcoal and vermiculite, I just added a bit of shredded sphagnum in it because I am underwaterer.

I had no idea that this species is not allowed in US :(

I don't get it why gig is so problematic in the US and other newly discovered species are not. It is not especially rare, well it is very nice, but not very rare at all. There are hundreds and thousands of plants exported from their natural habitats every couple months. Hopefully this trade will stop before it actually gets very rare...
