This is another purchase from Andy's when we visited last week. He has 3 forms there....taller one with typical flowers, mini one with small flowers, and this one: short plant with fat chunky flowers. Note the fine black hairs, characteristic of the nigro-hirsute section of Dendrobiums.

I had to convince him to part with this one....

Just slightly fragrant. Yes, it's very hard to walk out of there with a very large hole in the wallet....

Do you think that they are actually 3 closely related species?
 
No, I think they are the same. It seems that some species just have some variability among them.

Great flower - the nigrohirsuite types of Dendrobiums are almost certainly my favourites. Apart from the densiflora types possibly... :D
