What to do with phal ?

I received an unwanted gift a phal. The plant was waterlogged for a few months.
There is some new growth but a yellow leaf is my real consideration…
Should I repot during winter time -8 h of light or to wait for more favourable conditions? I’m so anxious cause similar yellowing was treated for 3 months with fungicides with 50:50 effect.

The roots are a soggy mess due to lack of repotting and too much moisture. I repot those anytime of year because that is an emergency. With such a situation, I do not wait. Since Phalaenopsis or low ight plants, nothing can be gained by waiting for longer days.
Those visible green roots mean nothing if the upper part of the root, where it attaches to the plant is dead. There is no way for the green root part to conduct water, through the dead area and have the plant make use of it.
Phalaenopsis rarely hold more then five, maybe six leaves. As one dies off, another forms to replace it. You are losing a leaf due to senility most likely, old age. The root rot is NOT helping! Overall, the plant looks very good but the longer you wait to repot, the more trouble will ensue.
How do you know if a Phalaenopsis is happy???? Each new leaf produced is the same size or slightly larger then the one produced before it. If they are getting smaller over time, that is a sign of trouble. A healthy plant produces 2 new leaves a year as a mature plant.

A little update second leaf is dropping after repotting. I was careful the roots looks ok but the yellowing is nasty….
I treat after repotting with kelpak substrate is orchiata and perlite.
Fusarium I think.

Just to add that the phal is treated with dragon’s blood but ..

I don't think that you are going to lose the plant now. Just keep it out of really bright light and let it adjust. It is pretty much a waiting game now. I typically look for new roots to form about 4 to 6 weeks after repotting. At most, 8 weeks later. You will lose the yellowing leaf but that is small potatoes compared to losing the plant.

Really chunky mix (looks like Super) and pot with holes. It will need extra water especially until the Orchiata starts holding moisture. Do go to the opposite extreme and over dry it.
