I got this in spring 2015 from Far East Agriculture Orchids. This is the first time blooming under my care, and it is a good start! The flower is long lasting as with the other species of section Oxyglossum. I think the flower opened about 3 months ago, and it still look nice (the photos were taken in July). A link to my related blog post (only 1 extra photo, and not much additional info, though).

Such an unusual flower. Does it need cooler conditions?

I'm growing in cool condition (68/50F), and I've never tried it in a warmer condition. But I'm guessing that it needs fairly cool condition. But I think Mike (Stone) grows wonderful D. cuthbertsonii at a much warmer temperature than my condition. In this group, D. laevifolium is probably the warmest growing species?

Fantastic photos and species. I would say it can be grown slightly warmer than cuthbertsonii as long as there is a decent diurnal range.
