Wow this is wonderful! I love the twisted petals and the hairs look like little spiders :)

Quite an unusual colouration with all that green. Shape isn't bad, so that's an overall excellent flower. Very beautiful.

This is the largest and most extreme of my dianthums. I can't imagine how parishii would have got mixed in. I have others which are more in line with the mainstream form. This one has by far the largest size, darkest colour and biggest spacing between the blooms. I have had it for many years, but have struggled to grow it. Each time as it matured a growth, it would develop rot and the the whole process would begin again while the next baby lead matured. I estimate this is the first bloom in twenty years. At long last it seems to be growing strongly and I hope it will not take as long to rebloom.

Congratulations on the accomplishment!!! 20 yrs... this is the most unique shape and color dianthum I have ever seen. self it!!!

Dot, those would be spiny black petal munchers

Oz, it was purchased as a full grown plant from a Far East supplier, so I guess a hybrid is always possible, but I believe it to be unlikely.

I like the oddity of the bloom and the color is striking. I
was squinting at the monitor to see if a spider was on the
bloom too...well, then I noticed all the other "spiders".
I think you have a very unique plant.
