Remember... you can pollinate the flower AND cut the stem. The pod will mature on a cut stem. You could then give the plant opportunity to develop a new tuber (instead of using its resources maintaining the flower) and develop seed to sow in case the plant dies.

Disa seed is easy: sow it on damp sphagnum moss. No need for aseptic culture.
