Some very nice Paphs
Those armeniacum on display were huge!! The lighting ruined the photo but they were massive & impressive in person.

Tons of Cypripedium and Pleione as he said but I only took just a few photos.
It’s amazing to be there with so many orchids in such wonderful layout & set up.

Some more photos from the show and a couple shots from the next hall, some garden plants and appliances, sausages, bread and reginal art works like decorated easter eggs…was fun day!!
Btw, that very nice Dollgldi was up for grab for 750 euro. As much as I wanted it, who’s to say it would bloom again before I die? 🤷🏻‍♂️😁

Dresden is a great place to visit. Well, when it’s warmer in June. 😁
The museums, porcelain & fine watches, arts and orchids

Leslie, I must give the compliment back to you, because it was also for us a great pleasure to meet you and talk with you about orchids and all the world and his brother.

HP7, would have been also a great peasure to say hello to you an talk with you. Maybe next time or next year.

Though I kept my eyes a lot on Paphs in the displays I'm inclined to say that this display fascinated me the most. Lovely clumps of colouful D. cuthbertsonii ann exetremly well grown Sophronitis (Cattleya) acuensis and other Sophronitis, a very pretty Pleurothallis costaricensis and many others lovely orchids.
Next time for sure!!
It was very crowded and I only got to just briefly say hello to Matt (Ten Shin Gardens), Jörg and Michael Tibbs.

So I finally met the legendary Franz Glanz, hybridizer of all those famous Wossner hybrids (such as Wossner China Moon) we have come to love and cherished. Such a kind gentleman!

I also attended his talk at the EOC portion of the Dresden Orchid show. I’m shocked at how many hybrids he has created over the 30 plus years of breeding he has done. Kudos to such a feat! 🙏

And in one of the EOC talks at the Dresden show, I finally met one of the most foremost authority on the Oncidinae Alliance, Stig Dalstrom, who helped me decipher the confusing taxonomy of the Cyrtochilums in my talk (3 years ago). That talk is now up on the AOS webinars.

Though he didn’t remember how I bombarded him with questions through our personal communication and begged for rare flower pics (which he willingly sent with permission to use), I am forever indebted to him and his academia of knowledge and experience. 🙏
