I hope all is well for all our members in the area affected by the earthquake this past weekend.

Please do let us know if there is anything we can help out with. Also please do reply to let us know you are ok.

Tom V. - I think the area affected was near Kyushu. Please do let us know if alls well.

Well said.

The same goes for those in Ecuador that also experienced a series of terrible quakes this past weekend.

I posted a similar thread in 'Other Forums' section.

Yup, still OK here. We had a good rumble last night though just before 11 - locally only a 2, but the epicenter was a 5.8. What is distressing is that the quakes are migrating up a volcanic zone that cuts across central Kyushu like a belt and is continuous with a tectonic zone extending across Shikoku and ending north of Mt. Fuji (M.T.L.). I also noticed that last night there was a small quake in Shikoku (the next island) right along that line. So the south end of it is moving, mostly in Kyushu.

If you want to see the tectonic zones of Japan, check out this site:

And you can follow what's happening with earthquakes in real time (and English!) at the Japanese Meteorological Agency's site:

If one starts to watch the tectonic plate movement world
wide, it seems that most of our earth is shaking apart
and rearranging itself as it has done many, many times
over the geological past. Doesn't make me feel any
better though. KY has a rather large fault line.
