From what i've heard Queen of Spades is a pale, not-quite-album clone. The selfings I've seen are all somewhat pale or pastel (if that is a valid descriptor) which I think is interesting.

Along a near tangent, I have a couple of Sam's cross of a lowii color form to an album form (gigantic x albino beauty)...I think there is a different goal there (to get to album in next generation) but the ones I've seen from that cross are very nice, pastel or maybe art shade-toned lowii. I think both of my plants are in bud or close to it and should spike by this spring.

Well, that would be a mistake to cross a line bred lowii with the albino hoping for excellent F2 albino, because many of the line bred lowii have been bred from Exotic Dancer and Malaysian Beauty, hence they are tetraploids. Most of the plants from Frank Smith are tetraploid too.

When crossed with the alba, it will give whatever, but triploids, and for sure there will not be easily a next generation ( that would have given albinos with better, fuller shape).
