Paphiopedilum Fanciful Flight made & registered by Lehua Orchids out of Hawaii (Sukhakulii 50%, mastersianum 25%, wardii 25%).

Reliable bloomer for several years that makes glossy green spotted flowers on tall (2’) spikes.
One spike always carries two buds.

The best 3 barbata species bred together. What a beauty... so shiny (from mastersianum), so cruciform (from sukh) and so spotted (from wardii). Love how LeHua is recreating the genetic pool with better parents.

Unfortunately, masteriasnum also contributed to the large plant size to this guy. but I do love this unique flower, so I've been keeping the plant for years now. I wish it clumped up better like wardii or suk, but oh, well...can't have it all I guess. :)

Self it and see if you come up with a smaller version
That would be great if I could come up with a smaller plant with very similar looking flower to this.
I would have to be very lucky since I can't grow out a lot of seedlings to up the chance.

I did cross a colorful venustum with this plant a couple of years ago. Very high germination, but I only did one flask. Seedlings are larger than anything I've seen! I'm slightly worried already. haha
Hopefully some colorful flowers with fancy leaves a few years down the road. :)

For once a complex hybrid that seems to profit from the best of its parents! Congrats!
Both parents are primary hybrid and they are each half sukhakulii. So, the results are rather simple and expected.
I wish it clumped up, but it won't make more than two leads after all these years.
