There was a grex out of Florida two or three years ago that got an aq and a number of high AMs, maybe higher...'A World Of Orchids' x 'Kerry Richards' or something like that. A beautiful grex to be sure...

it doesnt matter ..they advertised that flower as an FCC..it clearly has no merit from the photo ..maybe an HCC ..perhaps it was awarded..which would seriously call into question that region award committee (it was supposedlya recent award)

while he claims the flower is the FCC cultivar he says this isn't a division of that plant.
I doubt it would get any award here with each petal twisting in opposite directions, IMHO.

the color is drab (from the photo)..and all the AM wards i have seen have huge flowers and saturated color..its not the same species but the victoria regina "council crest " clone had three huge rounded flowers on each of two spikes with incredible color and only receivd an AM , like 20 years ago..the moqueattianum 'Birchwood" clone only has an HCC i believe ( i bloomed it once before it died) and it was much better than that photo

What does an orchid need to get an FCC? A really good formed and colored flower or a huge plant with tons of really good formed and colored flowers?

either one but FCC's tend to be just incredibly amazing flowers..this one is just average

has there ever been an FCC moquettianum..i cant imagine any cochopetalum ever getting an FCC?

Remember that this species hasn't always been known by the standalone name, Paph. moquetteanum. Some were awarded early on as Paph. chamberlainianum, and several of these have been awarded as Paph. glaucophyllum var. moquetteanum.

In 2009, June Simpson showed a plant in Orlando that got 90 points and became Paph. glaucophyllum var. moquetteanum 'Frank Smith', FCC/AOS.

It also doesn't help that spelling for various awards is shown as "moquettianum" and "moquetteanum" in the awards data, thus making it more difficult to search.

well, even if the judges here figured out what name to stick with, i SERIOUSLY doubt any of the ones up here would grant an FCC to this flower...but whatever..i dont see it as anywhere near a FCC (which means the judges are interpreting this as the perfect species flower)..an HCC, maybe an AM , okay..compared to what i have seen with much older awards that were superior in form and color, but i am not a judge, so i can only judge on what i have seen previously awarded..i wouldnt buy this much less a sibling for 125..it just reinforces the notion that an award is only as good your own attraction to the flower

I'm sorry - I wasn't commenting on the merit of the award. I'm not sure the award has even been published yet. My intent was to answer your original question and offering my own thoughts as to why it may have been difficult to locate any previous FCC's awarded to this species.
