Mike, I just visited their nurseries in China. Dr. Perner and his wife have a top notch operation. Given the constraints they have to deal with in terms of legally exporting plants/flasks out of China and the obvious need to make some profit, their prices are not unreasonable. The other point is that some plants they offer are not commonly seen on the world market.

Super nice people as well. If you want to see incredible plants in the wild (and at their nurseries), I highly recommend going on one of their tours of China. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks all. I see they have an interesting range (including Cyps!)

They have done extensive research into germination and flask ing of cyps. I have found them to be very attentive and quick to respond to questions. I look forward to purchasing flasks from them in the future.

Trithor is correct. Wenqing is excellent at getting back to you quickly. If you are interested in other things that are not the list, definitely ask.

I second all the good comments on Holger and Wenqing. They are delightful, down-to-earth, humorous, and do good deeds for the world of Chinese orchids.

cyps from China

They have brought pre-ordered dormant cyps to Europe in March for the last two years.
The first year they were very late and some plants had started into growth, resulting in many losses.
Last year was better and the two large tibeticums I ordered were lovely plants and both flowered after 6 weeks with me.
They were stunning with much better form and colour than the plants currently available elsewhere.
If you want to see the parental material look at Tom's recent video of tibeticums taken in the Huanglong reserve.
I await this autumn's cyp list with baited breath!

Regards,

David
