Update: the mystery seems solved! Though you guys had already solved it, of course. But I feel comfortable tagging this plant as Ho Chi Minh. Also, it’s a darn fine flower if I do say so!

Yes, it's definitely Paph. Ho Chi Minh and a good one. Often the pouches of this hybrid (and also vietnamense itself) are not solidly coloured: yours is and the form is almost perfect so you've rescued what turns out to be a lucky plant. Congrats!

Wow thank you! I don’t normally favor hybrids but you know how it is, a plant grows on you, endears itself to you, I’m thrilled by this one, especially knowing that a connoisseur thinks it’s a good one. That puffs me all up. Thank you.

New bloom on what y’all identified as Ho Chi Minh. This critter went down hard in my poisoning but bounced back in one year to hold one blasted-bud growth and two resplendent new ones, one in flower now. Looks big to me. These pics are 3 days in. It may have opened a bit more now.

It has taught me a lot about this section, it grows in a high-sided but open glass terrarium, like a nouveau Wardian case with the lid off. I will never move it, it’s so happy. Seems resistant to mites too.

Thank you! I was just curious about sizing. Mine is nowhere near that at 3.5 inches. Bigger than last time though.

It will get larger as it gets stronger I’m sure. If you get 7-9 flowers, it’s a CCE!

Lol well it was up to 5 growths total before it tanked, then twinned. I’m so snotty about hybrids in general but this plant holds a special place.

I have to say, that I'm uncertain what you mean by "before it tanked, then twinned", Brucher? Keep up the good work.

BTW, I have found once a delenatii from a small flower shop. Bought at once, could not believe my luck.

A year ago in January, my whole collection of 300 plants suffered a catastrophic poisoning. Due to my own misunderstanding, I failed properly to maintain my RO filter, which led to my collection turning yellow and brown overnight. Every single plant was devastated; I went from expecting over 100 flowers that spring to 100% bud blast. Everything. Plus the destruction of most growths. The past year has been a long recovery. I’ve learned a lot about how orchids react to serious chemical stress at the worst possible time of year. And P. Ho Chi Minh has been one of the best recoveries!

Thank you Brucher for your explanation. I'm truly sorry to hear from your case of poisoning. What a ghastly experience and shock! Poor you!! May I ask, what kind of poison you used?

Ps. There are many beautiful hybrids. I do love the species, but also atleast some hybrids. Mostly primary hybrids. Then those hybrids that contain several different species, and are crossed several times. You don't even know anymore from the abreveations, that what they mean!!!
