Oh thank you! Yes, I got there at 1 pm when it started. So I really made out with great ones. And I have been nerding out all day by watching YouTube to learn about them. And that militonopsis is so beautiful! And I did buy a rubber trash can at Lowes today for that enormous Vanda to soak overnight in. And it's tall enough to not tip over in it thank goodness!
Be careful with uTube. Some good info but some really not good. The most reliable info is from vendors websites. Orchid’s Ltd, Odom’s, Keith Davis Crchids, Carter and Holmes, also First Rays. Gold Country Orchids

Welcome!! Wonderful to have you!! It’s a great forum. A lot of the pictures here of that plant are my plant and it was a division of my plant you bought from member sales. You will love it. It’s a growing and blooming machine! I first saw it in a post from DrLeslieEe on this forum and had to have it. The only place I could find it in the states was Orchids Ltd. It was expensive but worth it!
Did you join Virginia Orchid Society? Meetings are in the same bldg where you bought the plant 3rd Sunday of each month 2:00. In April, Keith Davis is the speaker on everything cattleya. You won’t want to miss it. I’ll be there (can’t make the March mtg) in April. Would love to meet you!

Hello! Which plants of yours did I buy from the orchid society? The Kathleen and the Ho Chi Minh? That is amazing! I was wondering who the divisions were from and one had a name on the picture. I was delighted to see the name and thought how nice it would be to get to meet the person who the orchids came from. So when I read your posts here I was delighted!

And oh boy have I been through it with the moss. I once had all of my orchids in moss. It works well for me in two ways only. A. For small pots that dry quickly. B. For indoors only. So I started transitioning them back into bark.

It is just so nice to be able to meet you! And I'm going to join the orchid society. I just want to thank you so much for introducing yourself to me and letting me know where my treasures are from.

The ‘Kathleen’ is an original division from Bill Rogerson through Jerry Fischer (Orchid’s Ltd.). The Ho Chi Minh was mine, too! Both are virus negative. Re the Vanda. I had one like you are describing. I had a big plastic trash can (20 gal) with a weak fert solutionhat I would soak it in every day for about 15 minutes. Worked well. I just didn’t have room for it. They take so much light, more than catts. You got some treasures.
Hello! Thank you so much for all of this info. It's so helpful! It's the Kathleen the blooming machine?

It’s hard to control the water they get outside and in moss they would be more vulnerable to rot. I grow indoors under lights and mine stay indoors year round. All are in Orchiata mix. That’s what Hadley Cash used and I’ve always followed his recommendations.
Linus was right about the Paph Forum. Biggest Slipper event East of the Mississippi. Great speakers and people.
I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to get that beautiful Ho Chi Minh! So it's going to stay inside under grow lights this summer and all year because of what you just told me. Thank you thank you thank you!
