I'm Jaye. I've grown paphs for about 15 years.
I used fluorescent bulbs for a few years, but plants got neglected too often down in the basement. Now they're all on wall shelves with natural light and a ceiling fan. They're happier there, and the electric bill is lower.
Blooming now is my oldest (15 years) and best plant, Rosy Dawn 'superbum'. In a few days, I'll have 4 blooms on it at the same time, yay! It has bloomed every year for me, usually 2-3 flowers.
I like species and primary crosses, especially those with beautiful leaves (I'm not great at getting them to bloom), also African violets and tillandsia. They all coexist on 28' of shelves on a tall wall, to give you an idea of the size of my set-up.
