I was browsing on the computer and found Slippertalk. Orchids have been in my greenhouse for years, mostly Paphs. and Catts. Some grow, some don't, some bloom twice a year and some never bloom. I used to submit flowers for AOS awards but that was years ago. The last time I had 5 awarded but no job and no money so the awards were not recorded and I decided that I did not need awards to enjoy the hobby. I'm looking for Paph Winston Churchill (awarded clones) but only to enjoy these old time flowers. At 68 its getting a bit long in the tooth to breed some of these things and expect the to see the seed mature and flower. I'd just give the pollen away and hope that someone would ultimately produce a 'winner'.

The greenhouse is 14'x20' and it's amazing how quickly it fills with plants, but there always seems to be room for one more. The Paph Rothschildianum are multi-growth but still no flowers. The Paph Sanderianum bloomed one time three years ago and I'm hoping for another display this winter.

  Glad you introduced yourself! You got the 'bug', this is a good place to be! I have an 8 x 12 GH, yours sound like a good size but ...... like you said, it would get filled with plants, no matter the size! We like pictures, we  over any sand or multi, keep up the good work, the roth will happen! (That's what I keep tellin' myself! :p)

I think you are never too old to breed as I knew someone who started growing and breeding Clivia at the age of 75 and he had some wonderful plants.
