Hello everyone, my name's Adam. I've been growing orchids for a good few years and have a varied collection. Slipper-wise, I have a few Paphs. and only one solitary Cypripedium... Bit of a problem plant for me and I will be asking questions!

Hi jtrmd,

I was not sure if this was the right place to ask questions or not- the Cyp in question is a flavum.

Was given it bare-root, and planted it up as per the potting diagram on the carl frosch website. Didnt do much for a few months and then decided to put up a bud. This bud eventually produced one leaf, but has done nothing else.

It is still a healthy green, but just does not grow. Do they do this sometimes after being moved, or am I doing something wrong?

I water with rainwater whenever the top inch of the medium feels dry, and feed a weak solution every 2 weeks or so.

I keep the plant underneath a cypress tree in the same area as Meconopsis and various Primulas. Strong light in the morning until about 10am and then again from about 5pm through until about 8pm.

Does this sound right?

I have other terrestrial orchids, and have not had a problem before - I have read that Cyp flavum can be a bit tempremental and so I would like to know if what I am doing seems right to those with more experience with these plants

Welcome to Slippertalk, Adam. Your question is a good one -- there are a lot of Cyp growers here, so if your question doesn't get answered in this thread, please repost it in the Cyp section.

Hi Adam,

WELCOME ! Glad you joined us. I love Cyp's. Would love to have one, but I hear they are very difficult to grow and cultivate ....

Hope to hear more from you.
