Yup. I think I've reached official status!
This past weekend I took a bus trip to Montreal for Orchidfete!
This is a 5.75 hour bus ride! I left the house @ 4am -this after being at a good friends wedding the night before! Zzzzzzzzzz
I was only in Montreal for 3.5 hours before my return trip home. I purchased many great plants from vebdors I don't normally have the opportunity to see!

Friends and family think I'm nuts, but It was such a great trip! Well worth the 11.5 hour bus trip!

I was fortunate (and I do mean fortunate) to have met up with Eric (NYEric) for some shopping (he's only a slight enabler), lunch, and some laughs!

Now...off to Chicago for business! ...I left my 19 year old brother in charge of the pets and orchids! Let's hope he doesn't water them with beer!

Missing item: no mention of what the "great many" plants are! We want to know, so that we can vicariously fuel our own addictions! Do tell!

I knew someone was going to ask me!

I purchased several Masdevallia species from Ecuagenera.
>> Masdevallia condorensis
>> Masdevallia curtipes
>> Masdevallia datura
>> Masdevallia norops
>> Masdevallia patriciana
>> Masdevallia roseola
>> Masdevallia tonduzii
and a few hybrids from Mario Ferrusi @ Marsh Hollow. As well as a Promenea flask for interest sake.

AND
The plants you're all waiting for

Phrag besseae var abla & Paph mircranthum both in bud from Sam @ Orchid Inn.
Paph druryi, Paph lowii var richardianum, Paph spicerianum (I think this is my favourite Paph as I always seem to be buying them) from Glen @ Piping Rock

...and now I'm broke. Giggle.

I hear you. I drove to Calgary to an orchid show. That's an 8hr drive one way! And earlier this year to Edmonton. That's 7.5 hrs one way.

We have such a huge land mass. I hope there was a better transport rather than flying which is obviously retarded price wise. Hope we have those bullet trains like in Japan.

interesting masdevallia species

eric is only a slight enabler, because he doesn't want to encourage someone to buy the plants on his list!

actually, at our last meeting with a speaker/vendor I was hard-pressed to not buy any more orchids, so if I saw something I really wanted, I worked hard to find someone else to buy it :)

Going to AOS orchid judging in San Francisco cured me of my addiction. I am now plant free and happy.
