hi
does anyone know anything about u.s. import permits?
i've been looking around online but can't seem to find info about it
i guess we have a level 2 permit at work.
can anyone tell me what that means?

thanks
i had seen that
i figure my boss has been referring to it not quite correctly....

hi guys,

i think this is the permit that you need to apply for in order
to import plants with CITES into the USA ,
most of my clients have the 2 permits
http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/plants/plant_imports/cites_endangered_plants.shtml

You also need to have a general permit nursery licence in place

Here is a link to the permits...

Never heard of "level 2" unless that refers to plants that are required to be quarantined.

You don't actually need a nursery permit to import plants. Private persons can obtain the permits and import for personal use in the USA.

Certain plant species are listed as needing a 2 year quarantine period (not orchids). I don't remember if these plants require a separate permit but they must be grown in a designated and inspected quarantine area for a 2 year period.
