Every once in a while I make a mistake and watch the news on t.v. or listen to it on the radio, and I am stumped by the stupid things that seem to happen in society or in government. I sometimes think to myself, "What would I do if I could be the "Big Boss" and change anything I wanted?" This is your chance! Tell us what you would change if you had the chance for a day (assume that the change would be binding until the next 'day' whenever that came around...)

Morality and ethics is the problem of our times...the lack of them is what is causing all the other problems in modern society.... so I would do something to promote these values...

I'm definitely with Clark. Then my genie could grant me any wish I want, every day.

I would stop all religious wars. Fighting over religion is the most unreligious thing imaginable.

Better beer and wine for everyone will go a long way. Good food too. And not too much work. Get production levels down and we can all relax a bit. Decrease retail output, focus on making food at the community level, drop unnecessary consumption....

Man, sounds like I'm against growth based economies! Stop chasing objects and start chasing life and you won't have to worry too much about war, politics, and money. And always remember, "a friend in need, is a friend indeed."

I was going to go for something closer to home, like "it shall always rain over the greenhouses on weekends when I have to work" so I can go home ;)

by the way, if you have more than one decree, let them fly! :D (one at a time, though maybe)

If I could be Queen for only a day, I'd mandate a law that says I'd be Queen forever, unrevokable -- then I'd really get to work on my wishes!

Oh, ok I guess I was a little "heavy" as we baby boomers used to say.

Well then, if I were queen for a day, I'd make a new greenhouse appear attached to my house, complete with all facilities, including a Dot inspired photo corner, completely wheelchair accessible and impecably organized! And filled with the highest quality specimens of only my most favorite plants! All in bloom!

How's that?

I only wish people would care more for the world and each other. In the end, we own nothing. We come with nothing and leave with nothing. We could at least try to make things better before we go.

Good one, Shiva! Mine would be along the same lines. Everyone would need to take responsibility for their actions, not blame others or "the system". We've fostered a culture where nobody wants to be responsible anymore. It's always someone else's fault. Some shapeless, nameless, entity called They.

3 months off work ever year. We are slaving to our work... More vacation, enjoy your days off with your love one

Sounds like you read Paul Gilding's The Great Disruption.

(Which I agree with).

I'd destroy all firearms worldwide as well as all weapons of death and mass destruction along with any subsequent desire to create them again. I might consider allowing the tools of archery to remain. Doing this, however, would require the possession of powers of deity for a day, powers which would theoretically far exceed those of simply being king or queen for a day.

I would instill a deep respect for nature in every person alive so that one morning wall street big whigs, corporate CEO's, and general enemies of the earth everywhere would wake up one morning and say "man I've really been doing a number on our planet to line my pockets, I should really think of some new ways to make that right and protect what we have." It would be something like the morning Ebenizer Scrooge woke up and realized he was a total ass and went about making ammends and changing his ways, I think that would clear up a lot of problems.
