Hi,

same as first flowering but I like the late afternoon sun glow on this flower.
Spot the hairy laterals.
The plant is originally from the EYOF and is Beauport x D'allesandroi.
The flower is about 4.5 inches wide - not as big as it can get.
3 spikes this time but not all there yet so will post when they are, including a whole plant shot for Eric.
It has grown very well - my phrags seem to love Akerene's rain mix and the little and often feed programme.

Regards,

David

I like this plant a lot.

I have some Jason Fischer x Beauport. They're finicky to say the least. The color on them is a little darker than your plant, but I like the flower shape on your plant a lot better.

Good job! Very lovely.

La Hougette

This plant must be fairly old and spent some time at EYOF.
When I bought it from Ratcliffes around a year ago there appeared to be two plants on opposite sides of the pot and nothing inbetween.
I checked and it was because the plant had split and grown apart.
It does mean that when I repot there will be a large FS division going next spring!
I'd be looking for a swap for something similar,
David

flowering update

Sorry for the poor photos but the camera is on the blink.
Five flowers on the three spikes.
The biggest spike should go on for several months.
The second photo is for Eric.
This plant has really wide leaves, maybe from the dallesandroi parent.
Growth of all my phrags has really taken off since I started to use Akerne's rain mix in every watering.
These are grown indoors for most of the year but spend the summer in the cold greenhouse.
The last photo shows the phrags sat in their tray.
Front left to right are Hanne Popow x kovachii, Eumelia Arias (in bud for the first time), Living fire x kovachii.
Back left is La Vingtaine ( MDC x kovachii) and La Hougette.
La Vingtaine is now on its third growth and this one is huge!
Regards,
David

rain mix

Eric,

Rain mix is (NPK 13+3+15+11CaO+3MgO) according to the label.
There may be more information on the Akerne orchids web site.
This stuff has transformed my plants over the past 18 months.
