I wonder if those were mostly wild collected (however illegally)?

I see what appear to be wild collected orchids pretty often on places like Ebay. Mostly it's Cypripedium acaule and Encyclia tampensis these days. I don't think it's illegal to collect these species from the wild unless they're in a protected area (like a state/federal park) though it's always possible that they are protected in some areas. Personally I'm not in the market for wild collected orchids being sold by Ebay randos.

Back when it seemed like Epi. magnoliae was more widely available, I was really only considering availability from reputable vendors. Not the type of establishments/individuals that would be going out into the wild, collecting plants, and then offering those collected plants en-masse to the public. But rather the types of places that would be selling artificially propagaged seedlings (or clones???).
