Hi!

I walked into the greenhouse on Saturday and was surprised to see this one in bloom. I purchased it on eBay a few months ago from Kawamoto Orchids. At the time, it had an empty sheeth. It was a pleasant surprise to see three flowers greeting me when I wasn't expecting it. It is Laelia purpurata var. flammea '#6' x Laelia purpurata var. flammea '#7'. It has three flowers on a first time seedling. The NS is just over five inches in diameter.

And here's a full plant photo for NYEric:

This plant has a smaller growth habit than my other purpuratas. It aslo has a shorter distance between rhizomes. I think it's a keeper!

Best Regards,
Nik von Ruden

P.S. Here's a link to an eBay auction for another plant of this same cross. Check out the mom and dad.

Lovely!

I've had very good luck with plants from Kawamoto orchids. My daughter is visiting Hawaii this month, and I just discovered she is staying only a couple miles from them! Gee, now do you think she might pick something out for me for an early birthday present????????????

Fantastic First bloom. Hope the lip straightens ot, but a keeper never-the-less!

Your countertop has been exceptionally ornate this year.
This one packs alot of pop.
