Lycaste Reina Del Cisne

Bought this Lycaste from ecuagenera's sale table at the spring orchid show of 2013. Still not sure how to grow this genera. But it flowers twice per year with a faint fragrance of roses and I love it!

Feed well while growing, sprinkle natural fertiliser every month, good light and let dry a bit after watering in summer. Cooler and drier in winter and put in sunny east window in winter (depending on where you live). Watch for scales as they love those leaves. Reduce watering and feeding as leaves begin to turn yellow in the fall. And tell it she's beautiful. Plants need good relationships too.

That is a very nice flower.
I grow the hybrid 'hughenden' and virginalis alba and both seem to be fairly straight forward.
Indoors over winter in a light place with water when they've dried out and plants are flowering.
They don't seem to be too bothered about humidity but the hybrids get quite big and leafy. A problem if like me you grow in windowsills.
Summer is outside in a spot with dappled shade and they receive lots of water and feed when in active growth.
I will post a photo of hughenden when my computer is fixed,

That color is impressive. The laundry room background shows it off to better advantage. If it is flowering twice a year you must be doing something right.

appreciated. I've potted it in a basic mix of bark/perlite/charcoal and sphagnum moss.. should I toss the moss when I repot? It keeps the media
always "evenly moist". Not sure if it's a good thing?
As for the size of the flower it seems that it's bigger and the segment are fuller
under cooler temperature.

It's even darker under lights (T5HO 6500k) :

Who needs a dark leuco when you can have this.. right?

Is virginalis a variety of skinneri or it's a synonym ? Can't wait to see your lycastes. I'm starting to like very much this genera..even though I really don't have the space to collect too many of those beauties.

So, if I understand they don't usually flower twice per year? Does any one knows any other hybrids that has that trait ? I forgot to mention that the two flushes of flowers are from the same pseudobulb.

skinneri/virginalis are synonyms.
There are plenty of this alba clones around in the trade at present.
My alba clone flowered off and on over winter 2 years ago from a smallish bulb then sat there exhaused for 6 months and is only now maturing a new growth.
If you call that flowering twice a year then it did it!
Not sure about moss - I think it can work well for lycastes as long as you repot every year.
They like plenty of feed when in growth so it has a tendancy to break down quickly,
