This is charlesworthii 'Hooded' x Macabre 'Flappers'. I picked this one up at Oak Hill Gardens.

This was #1, a vini from a different source, that bloomed back the end of May.

They have their differences, I like both!

I have this one also. I really like it and it is a very faithful bloomer. It's now pushing up a third bud since last winter. The only problem is that mine has a color break that always appears on the right side of the bloom. Either in the dorsal or on the pouch. But, I keep it and love it anyways...can't bring myself to compost it yet. Keep me in mind for a division of yours sometime. It's a beauty.

:( I'm sorry to hear that ..... look at the right side of the pouch, color breaks too! but I'll keep it minor flaws or not!

I love them both. The first one (first photo) is so unique and varied in color, and the stam in the second photo is such a great contrast against the dark flower. Beautiful!

I should find a picture of mine and post it...just to for comparison. I think my color break is slightly more visible.

..... OK, time to show my ignorance, what about trying to have this one judged...good or bad idea?
I would think the color break on the pouch would knock it out of contention. I'm making a note of the color break, it will be interesting to see if it repeats as Allen's does. Actually I didn't notice it until I took the photo.
I think this was a better blooming than the last time, can't seem to locate a photo. I find it interesting, this one had charles as the pod parent & as you said one can see it in the dorsal. The vini has Macabre as the pod parent, and look at the influence there!
Hope Allen can locate a photo, it would be fun to compare!
